GARTH FRY: Garth Fry is a mixed media artist based in New Freedom, Pennsylvania whose work has been exhibited throughout the States. While a member at the Lee Arts Center, based in Arlington Virginia, Fry began combining serigraphy with watercolors on coffee stained paper. Employing this process, he moved forward by illustrating and screen printing posters for musical acts including: We Were Promised Jetpacks, Thee Lexington Arrows, and The 9 Songwriter Series in Washington, DC and New York City. Through continual experimentation with various printmaking techniques, Fry recently developed a more sculptural means of capturing his imagery. Fry uses coiled paper and glue to create familiar patterns and forms that survey the psychology of isolation.
Fry earned his BFA in Graphic Design with a concentration in Printmaking from Longwood University. He has worked for Hillyer Art Space Gallery and Randal Scott Gallery in Washington, DC; the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art in Virginia Beach, VA; and 1708 Gallery in Richmond, VA. He has assisted in the execution of numerous exhibitions providing help with art handling, installation, and deinstallation.
He accredits his current body of work to his education and gallery work experience.
