Leslie Ezra Smith: An Insincere Sigh of Readiness

Leslie “Ezra” Smith is a Pittsburgh native who began acting in 1994 for A.R.C.H. Productions, performing in “Hitting Home”. His most recent performances include “Seven Guitars” as Canewell for Kuntu Repertory Theater (2005), “A Soldiers Play” as a Military Police officer and understudy for Henson for New Horizons Theater (2005), “Hidden in Harlem” as Charly and “Who’s Hero?” as The Soldier during The Theater Festival in Black in White for the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater (2005), “The Founder’s Play” as Tony during the National Society of Black Engineers’ conference at The David Lawrence Convention Center (2006) ,the world premiere of The Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater Company production of “Hoodwinked” as Wayne (2006),”Sing Black Hammer” as Carter for Kuntu Repertory Theater (2006), “Corps Values” for The Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater Company (2006), and “Sarafina” for Kuntu Repertory Theater (2007). Ezra has also been a nationally performing Spoken Word artist since 2000 performing in local and national venues, national poetry slams, and community peace rallies. Ezra aspires to evolve into a great actor and possibly a director and playwright, performing in critically acclaimed productions, respected movies, television sitcoms and/or dramas, and producing nationally sought after and produced plays. His other goals include the creation of a one man touring production entitled, “Take Off Your Cool”, producing two books, an autobiography and a poetry book, producing a performance poetry CD and a DVD showcasing some of his live performances. Ezra also desires to contribute to the social service field to share his knowledge and wisdom and life experiences to assist the youth in healing their spiritual and mental life dramas in order to produce more peaceful minds, homes, and communities. His ultimate dream is to leave a legacy of hope and passion for his children, family, friends, and the world abroad to embrace and grow from, hopefully, leading to a more empathetic, responsible, united human experience of life for all.
